On behalf of myself and my staff, I would like to thank The Dispatch for recognizing our efforts on the editorial page Thursday. Eliot staff has worked hard for more than 20 years to help students that face special language challenges achieve success in school.
The patience and skills that are required for Eliot teachers to work with students who face language obstacles, be it Slingerland students or English Language Learners, has often been overlooked by many. They have a tough job. And, they do it with the love, the compassion, and the expertise required to help a diverse population of students flourish.
