Ernest Martinez Hernandez, 70, passed away at his home in Hollister, on Monday, May 28, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Husband of 50 years to Grace, father to Julie and Ernie (Christy), grandfather to Emillie and Nico, brother to Sara Amstutz (Jeff), Alice Fierro (Fidel), Rudy (Pat) Hernandez and Henry Hernandez.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Dolores Hernandez. He is also survived by uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and great friends.
 From Carlsbad, New Mexico, he moved to Gilroy with his family in 1957, where he attended Gilroy High. He retired in 1997 from Tri Cal, Inc. in Hollister after 35 years of employment.
 Ernie will always be remembered for his quick sense of humor, his many stories and his generosity to his family and friends. Ernie never met a stranger; everyone he met was his friend. He will be greatly missed.
 Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th Street, Gilroy, CA followed by a Vigil Service at 4:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 4, 2012, at 10:00 A.M., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 11 First St., Gilroy followed by burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Â
