The Glen and Sue Middaugh family has every right to be furious that their 7-year-old daughter walked off campus without supervision. We should all be furious.
A 7-year-old child returning to her class can rightly become confused if her teacher and classmates are not where they are supposed to be, and the incident can not be blamed on this child simply because she went looking for her own teacher. It is the ADULTS who are supposed to be responsible for the children, not the other way around!
Shame on the nurse and everyone else involved for not keeping track of this child.
