Gilroy – A juvenile was injured in a gang-related fight at near Las Animas skate park, about 2:30pm Tuesday. The victim was bitten and suffered moderate injuries, for which he was treated at Saint Louise Regional Hospital. The suspect is an unidentified adult. Several other people were involved in the fight, and the Anti-Crime Team is investigating the incident.
Meeting aims to help contractors
Gilroy – This meeting aims to help contractors and developers doing work in Gilroy learn about an ordinance that will require recycling of construction and demolition debris. Meeting will be 5pm March 14 in the City of Gilroy Council Chambers.

Fourth Street Live features trombones
Gilroy – The Monterey Trombones, four trombonists with bass singer and piano player James Grainger will appear at 7:30pm Friday during Fourth Street Live, at 7600 Church St. The following Friday the Praise Band will perform.

Get help at free citizenship day
Gilroy – Catholic Charities will be presenting “Free Citizenship Day” beginning at 10am Saturday at Rebekah Children’s Services, 290 IOOF Ave.
Free citizenship services include:
Presentations (English and Spanish) on the benefits of becoming an United States citizen and how to become an United States citizen.
Initial legal assessment with an accredited immigration expert or attorney.
An appointment for a later date for the following free services: Assessment of eligibility, Application assistance, List of civics and history questions and answers, Referral to free citizenship classes.
Don’t forget to bring a permanent resident card (green card).

Basketball tryouts
San Jose – The Top Flight Basketball High School Girl’s Elite Travel Club is holding open try-outs from 6 to 8pm, March 8 at Martin Murphy Middle School.
Open tryouts for the girls 15 and up and 16 and up teams will take place. The Top Flight Girl’s Basketball Club competes in both AAU sanctioned tournaments and exposure tournaments attended by college coaches from across the nation. The season begins in March and ends in July. There will be additional information provided to parents at the tryouts.
