Dear Editor

So let me understand this … I purchase a home in the Northwest Quad of Gilroy. American Medical Response has the medical contract for the County of Santa Clara to provide ambulance service. The City of Gilroy decides to purchase an ambulance (STAR CAR) instead of a fire engine for the brand new fire station.

In San Jose a STAR CAR is supplemental to the fire service coverage due to AMR being overloaded. So I am sacrificing fire service due to what? Even my medical service is sacrificed because the rest of the town will receive an engine with a paramedic and three emergency medical technicians and an ambulance with a emergency medial technical and a paramedic, while I receive a STAR CAR with a paramedic one emergency medical technician and a ambulance with one paramedic and a emergency medical technician.

So let me see … as a Northwest Quad resident I would like to have the same service as the rest of the town.
