The Gilroy High football team took a brief 6-0 first-quarter lead on a Niko Fortino touchdown pass, but watched as Palma rattled off 28 unanswered points en route to a 28-12 halftime lead in an eventual 42-20 victory Friday night in Salinas.

The Mustangs (1-7, 0-5 league) are faced with one final chance to gain a Tri-County Athletic League win this season, hosting San Benito in the annual Prune Bowl later this week.
