The Anchorpoint Christian Warriors opened their Coastal Athletic League title defense with a 74-32 victory against league foe Crystal Springs Uplands on Saturday.

Quarterback Matt Garay was efficient in his first start of the season, completing 6-of-15 passes for 115 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Warriors’ vaunted run game was again led by Kareem Lucas, who churned out 175 yards on the ground, as the Warriors sauntered up and down the field for a combined 297 yards.

Lucas also connected on 2-of-2 passing for 70 yards a pair of scores.

Jordan Suniga had four carries for 80 yards and Ruben Alnas paced the receiving corps, hauling in four catches for 118 yards.

The Warriors’ (4-0 overall, 1-0 league) offense has posted 50 or more points in all four games this season, including 70-plus points in the last two contests.

Anchorpoint’s defense came away with seven sacks, including two apiece from Suniga, Stefan Perry and Ian Weymouth and one by Matt Thomas. Alnas, Thomas and Louis Turner registered one interception each.

The Warriors continue CAL play against Faith Christian on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Gilroy.
