Co-Rec squad reamins undefeated atop ‘D’ League
GILROY – Foothills turned back South Valley Newspapers 22-4 Sunday to move to 2-0 atop the Co-Rec Winter D League standings at Las Animas Park.

Foothills opened the eight-game schedule with a 13-2 nod over Rush Order Thursday. John Fullmer went 4-for-4 and scored four runs for the winners, with Leonard Gutierrez 2-for-2 with two runs. Doris Kanemura went 3-for-4 and Jessica Loza singled and tripled for Rush Order.

Susan Cates highlighted the Sunday victory with two doubles, two singles and a sacrifice fly for Foothills. Ryan Brindle went 4-for-5 and scored four runs. Gian Rossini and Larry Reimal each lined four Foothills hits. Jonathan Mixter went 2-for-3 for the Newspapers.

Covenant is 2-0 after a 19-4 decision over Rush Order. Rich Adams and Cory Casillas hit consecutive home runs in the second for Covenant. Todd Maria and Jose Villarreal delivered Covenant homers. Jessica Loza hit a three-run homer for Rush Order.

Handmade Healthcare defeated Gaeta’s Taqueria 13-5 Sunday in a battle of unbeaten Co-Rec Winter B League clubs at Gavilan Sports Park.

Gil Barry drove in five runs with a 5-for-5 effort for Handmade. Mike Howe added two singles and a double, scoring three Handmade runs. Art Del Valle went 3-for-4 for Gaeta’s.

Daniel Vasquez and Raul Gracia powered home runs as 2-0 Sand Pit blanked Feather Haven Mill 9-0. Andrew Ornelas went 4-for-4, Vasquez and Mike Luna each 3-for-3 for the Pits.

Lopez Vending Machines moved to 2-1 in B League play with a forfeit win over Let’s Do This.
