Dear Editor,

I worked for almost five years in the late ’80s at the Quail Canyon Inn as a bartender and I remember only twice calling the police to respond. Once when a non-motorcycling patron assaulted me behind the bar and the second time when some teenagers damaged vehicles outside in the parking lot.

There was to my knowledge not that kind of response necessary as the Gilroy officer claims. Sure, there are some bad elements everywhere that attracts a crowd, but to state that there is “tough clientele” is a bit farfetched. It was a bar that was heavily frequented by locals who live in the surrounding hills and on the weekend by motorcycle riders as well as bicyclists.

This place will be missed.
