The Gilroy Police Department arrested four of six suspects allegedly involved with an attempted gang-related murder that occurred at 7:54 p.m. April 27 on the 200 block of Farrell Avenue.
Michael Wario, 21; Richard Nieblas, 24; Jonathon Fernandez, 22; and Michael Campos, 21; all from Gilroy, were arrested separately between May 1 and May 12 without incident and taken into custody according to a GPD press release sent out today. The remaining suspects, 20-year-old Homer Garza of Morgan Hill and 24-year-old Raul Vera of Gilroy remain at large and currently have active arrest warrants according to police.
Officers believe all six of the men were involved in a large fight in late April that created a disturbance at a Farrell Avenue residence. One of the suspects – using an unknown type of handgun – fired several shots at subjects involved in the fight, police say. One subject was stabbed and others were physically assaulted during the tussle.
The subjects who were physically assaulted suffered non-life threatening injuries and declined medical attention. The stabbing victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. At this time, no gunshot victims have been identified or have come forward to police, according to the press release.
The Department’s Anti-Crime Team is investigating this incident as a gang motivated crime.
