Frank ‘Pancho’ Ramirez died April 24, 2004.
A long time Mountain View resident, Frank and his wife, the late Atanacia Olmos Ramirez, moved to Mountain View in 1942 from Yuma, Ariz., where he was born in 1913. Together they opened Ramirez Grocery in Castro City, one of the first neighborhood stores.
Mr. Ramirez was a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 3. He also worked for Bahr and Ledoyen in Palo Alto for 15 years and was a member of the La Estrella in Mountain View for many years.
The beloved father was predeced in death by his two stepsons, John Sonny Torres and Joe Angel Torres.
He is survived by his stepson Philip (Janet) Torres of Mountain View; son, Frank, Jr. (Lynda) Ramirez of San Jose; their children, Christina (Victor), Frank, Fred, Daniel (Julie); daughter, Maria (Arthur) Serrano of Gilroy; and their children, Marty (Diana), Carla, Roberta (Jerry) Arthur, Cynthia. An adored and cherished grandpa, he also had 11 great-grand children.
He was a hard working man and will be remembered for his strength, endurance and determination with love and respect from all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but will dance forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 29, 2004, starting at 12 noon with aigil service at 7 p.m. at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 El Camino Real W., Mtn. View, CA and a graveside service on Friday April 30 at 10:30 a.m.. at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
