after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by Margy, his loving wife of 57 years; his sister, Eleanor Ellis; his children Joan Ettinger, Charles Wear, Robert Wear, Mary Leonard, David Wear, and Therese Burkhardt; his grandchildren Greg Cook, Stephene Barhorst, Brian, Brendon, Jeff, Matthew, Derek and Emily Wear, Monique Reid, Alisia Donaldson, Desiree Bright, James, Tim and Daniel Burkhardt; his great-grandchildren Briana and Jacob Barhorst and Payton Donaldson.
Fred was born on March 12, 1927 in Sacramento and lived in Santa Cruz for the last 20 years. He was very devoted to his family, faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 57 years. Fred will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends along with his smile and great sense of humor.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea church in Santa Cruz. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church Memorial Fund.
