Gilroy – A six-person brawl outside a Gilroy movie theater landed three adults and three juveniles in handcuffs.
Nathan Martinez Villalobos, 21, Omar Montesinos, 21, and Angel Nunez Mendez, 20, were arrested by officer Jesus Contreras just after 11:15pm Friday night outside Platinum Theatres, 6981 Monterey Road. The three Gilroy men were arrested on suspicion of fighting in public; Montesinos was also arrested for an outstanding a warrant for driving with a suspended license. Three juveniles were also arrested, police said. No weapons were used in the fight.
General manager Ed Jackson said at least some of the people fighting had just left a movie. One manager attempted to break up the fight, but couldn’t separate the combatants. Another manager had already called the police when an off-duty police officer, stopping at the theatre to pick up his kids, saw the fight and called police again. At least five officers responded to the scene, subduing the six people.
Police don’t know what caused the fistfight, Sgt. Kurt Svardal said. No one was arrested on gang-related charges.
