Police, responding to a report of drug activity in the 500 block
of Stoney Court, arrested a 19-year-old Gilroy man on suspicion of
carrying a loaded firearm.
Police, responding to a report of drug activity in the 500 block of Stoney Court, arrested a 19-year-old Gilroy man on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm.
When officers arrived they searched Michael Mejia Alvarez and found a loaded gun in his waistband, police said. He is a local criminal street gang member, Sgt. Jim Gillio said.
Mejia was arrested about 5 p.m. Tuesday without incident.
Because of Mejia’s gang affiliation, the GPD Ant-Crime has presented the District Attorney’s office with a request to file a gang enhancement charge against Mejia.
