Gilroy – Neil Garrett poured in 38 points Tuesday as Eight-Ball Bail Bonds edged by Pizza N Stuff 77-75 in the Men’s C League season finale at Solorsano Gymnasium.
The Bondsmen earned the second-half title with a 5-1 mark, one game ahead of Pizza N Stuff, the first-half titlist. Eight-Ball and Pizza N Stuff open the best 3-of-3 Championship Series Monday Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at Solorsano Gym.
Mark Cisneros threaded three three-point field goals in the first 10 minutes as Pizza N Stuff built a 19-10 edge. The clubs went into the intermission squared at 39. Pizza N Stuff out-pointed the Bondsmen by four points in the first 10 minutes of the second half before Eight-Ball rallied in the closing minutes for the decision.
Mitch Burley popped in 12 points, Ron Connors 11 and Miguel Rivera 10 for the winners. Cisneros was good for 28 points, David Herrera 16, Miguel Gilliard 15 and Santos Benitez 14 for Pizza N Stuff.
Triple Threat earned a spot in the Men’s D playoffs opposite Handmade Healthcare with a 45-33 verdict over CordeValle.
Jacob Garcia worked inside for 20 points as Triple Threat finished the second half at 5-1. Chris Vigilante mustered eight points for the 4-2 CordeValle squad.
Triple Threat and Handmade Healthcare open the Championship Series at 8 p.m. on Monday Feb. 14.
Alex Rivas scored 26 points and Andres Espinosa garnered 16 as Toto’s Stingers-Gavilan Honda prepped for the Men’s DD Championship Series with a 67-59 victory over Headstart Wednesday. Bob Lemmon erupted for 26 points, Bill Christopher 17 and Shannon Farrington 11 for Headstart.
Toto’s-Honda opens the Men’s DD playoffs against New Hope Community Church Monday Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. at Solorsano Gym.
New Hope earned the second-half DD title with a 54-51 squeaker over Good Fellas.
Joshua Ehle’s bucket with three seconds to play locked up the win for New Hope. Mike Vanni powered the New Hope offense with 16 points. Ehle and Sergio Montenegro each finished with 14.
Mike Lazano and Noel Valdovinos each struck for 13 points for the Good Fellas. Emiliano Mendolla popped in 11.
Ada Saito came up with 15 points Wednesday as the streaking GC Farms turned back Gilroy Young Plants 38-34 in DD play. Michael Yoshida followed with 10 digits. John Mendolla tallied 14 Plants points.
Derek Anderson scored 14 points Thursday as the Eagles moved to 2-4 with a 42-27 win over the Titans. Jordan Reyes scored eight for the Titans.
