GILROY – “Creative Catalyst,” an exhibition currently on display at the Gavilan College Gallery, features artwork by art educators from Gavilan College and local high schools.

The exhibition is on display now through Jan. 25 at the gallery, located at the Gavilan College Gilroy campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.

Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and the gallery is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Artists exhibiting artwork are: Dan Dwyer, Jane Edberg, KC Gonzalez, Jack Johnson, Arthur Juncker, Tim Kelly, Jacqueline Kurtt, Jane Rekedal, Sylvia Rios, Moisés Roizen, Louise Roy, and r2row.

Artworks include ceramics, photography, drawings, paintings, fabric, murals, wood and mixed media.

This exhibition features work created by artists who share a common experience: They also teach.

Throughout history the essence of art—creativity—has been passed on from generation to generation via art guilds, master/apprentice workshops, Royal Academies, oral traditions, and most recently through our educational system. Whatever the method the result is one in which the teacher attempts to inspire and motivate other students to begin on their own creative journeys.

Admission is free and open to the public. On-campus parking is $.75. For more information contact r2row at 846-4974 or by e-mailing r2***@*****il.com.
