Classes are conducted in English and Spanish from 9am to noon at the South Valley School of Science and Global Studies, 385 I.0.0.F.Ave.
Dancing with the Salsa Stars
Gilroy – Mariachi Santa Cecilia will be playing traditional Mexican music Friday night at the Gavilan College Theater. The group plays a broad spectrum of music, including ballads, tangos and folk songs. The program starts at 7:30pm with tickets available at the college bookstore and Porcella’s Music for $5.
SV Republican Women Club Meets
Gilroy – The South Valley Republican Women Federated Club invites Republican men and women to join their monthly meetings. Guest Speaker this week is Josh Trevino, vice president of public policy, Pacific Research Institute, who will speak about Environmental Policy. Regular lunch meetings are held the second Saturday of the month. The next meeting is 11:30am Saturday at Mama Mia’s restaurant, 1360 First St., Gilroy. Cost is $20.

Explore Gilroy’s Historic East Side
Gilroy – On Saturday, April 7th explore Railroad and Alexander Streets with members of the Gilroy Historical Society. Meet at the Gilroy Museum, 195 Fifth St. at 10am. The free tour will last about two hours.

Gilroy Easter Egg Hunt for Kids Sunday
Gilroy – Kids through grade five can enjoy an Easter egg hunt, and more, from 9am to noon, Saturday at Christmas Hill Park. The free event will feature more than 20,000 candy-filled eggs, prizes, raffles, clowns and balloons.
It is sponsored by New Hope Community Church in conjunction with Gilroy Community Services and The Gilroy Gang Task Force.
Drive For a Cure at Golf Fundraiser
Gilroy – Perfect your putting and support cancer research, in the same swing. Saturday, April 14 at the Gilroy Golf Course, participants can compete for a cause. Proceeds from the scramble-format tournament support the American Cancer Society.

Eat, Dance and Celebrate
Gilroy – The South Valley Music Makers third anniversary celebration is 1pm, April 28 at the Bradshaws, 1244 Sycamore Court. Event is a potluck. Due to the volume of people who attend this event, it will begin with 10-minute sets for the experienced players and five-minute sets for the less experienced. When everyone has had a chance to play, the group can go around again.

MACSA Seeks Most Influential Latinos
Gilroy – The Mexican American Community Services Agency is seeking nominations for the 100 Most Influential Latinos in Silicon Valley. The winners will be announced at a red-carpet event June 30 at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose, and featured in San Jose Magazine.
The top winners in 10 categories – arts and culture, community and philanthropy, business, education, government, health and wellness, law and public safety, media, technology and science, and legends (those who have retired or passed on) – will be highlighted at the event.
Nominations are due by Friday and can be submitted online at www.macsa.org or www.redcarpetgala.com.
