A few early runs helped snap Gavilan’s three-game losing streak.
The Rams topped De Anza 3-2 in Cupertino Tuesday to improve to 11-18 overall, 5-12 in conference play.
Gavilan already led 1-0 after Javier Garcia scored on a passed ball in the top of the second, but it was able to seal the deal in the top of the third. Danny Guitterez doubled to drive home Adam Kocina and was able to score himself off a Steven Martinez single to lead 3-0.
Martinez had two hits and an RBI, while Guiterrez had one and an RBI. Kocina had one hit, a run, a sac and an stolen base in the game. DJ Santellano also had two hits in the game.
De Anza scored in both the fifth and sixth innings, but fell just short.
Matt Oxner got the win on the bump, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks while striking out six in eight innings of work. Danny Guiterrez was awarded the save with two strikeouts through one inning.
Gavilan will be back in action at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Ohlone.
