With San Jose City College’s lead near doubling Gavilan at halftime, the Rams faced a tough task. 
Gavilan pressed on, putting up 21 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to lift them past the visitors. The Rams fell 83-46 to SJCC in the conference play opener. It’s the team’s ninth straight loss.

Gavilan (1-11 overall, 0-1 in conference) will look to rebound at 7 p.m. Friday at West Valley College.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Rams drop conference opener
It was a little bit closer this time, but still no cigar for the Gavilan women’s basketball team. 
The Rams dropped their seventh straight game, a 50-37 decision, to the visiting Foothill College Wednesday, kicking off conference play. They are now 1-12 overall, 0-1 in conference.

Gavilan will have a quick turn around to prep for its next contest, a 7 p.m. game at Mission College Friday.
