The Gavilan softball team snapped an 11-game losing streak and went 1-3 at the March Madness Tournament held Saturday and Sunday in Fremont. 
The Rams picked up their first ‘W’ since Feb. 20 by beating Los Medanos 10-2 in six innings Sunday. Gavilan lost its tournament opener 13-5 to Solano on Saturday. It fell to Feather River 8-3 later in the day and wrapped up competition with a narrow 9-8 loss to Ohlone on Sunday. 
Mari Rodriguez and Crissy Simpson both homered for the Rams against Los Medanos. Rodriguez was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored. Simpson went 2 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored. 
Los Medanos struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth. Gavilan answered with four in the bottom of the inning. It added three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Rams split meet with West Valley, Foothill
Gavilan notched a 4-1 victory over West Valley, but lost by the same score—4-1—to Foothill Friday in Saratoga. 
Stats from this game were not yet available. 
The Rams will be back in the sand at noon Friday, taking on Feather River and West Valley at Rio Del Mar Beach in Aptos.
Erica Baxter got the win in the circle, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk through six innings. She also had two RBIs, a double and scored a run. 
Adrianna Ortega led the Rams against Ohlone as she accounted for five RBIs. She went 3 for 4 and also scored three runs. Simpson was also 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run. Samantha Parraz was 2 for 4 with a run. 
The Rams led 4-0 before Ohlone got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third. Gavilan added two more in the top of the fourth, but the Renegades  got within one, 6-5, by adding four runs in the bottom of the inning. 
Gavilan pushed two runs across in the top of the sixth, but Ohlone answered with four in the bottom of the inning for the final. 
Baxter was handed the loss, allowing eight runs on eight hits through four innings. She also walked eight and gave up two home runs. 
The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first against Feather River in the tournament opener. FR scattered seven runs over the first three innings to take a commanding 7-3 lead. It added another in the bottom of the sixth for the final. 
Baxter again got the loss after giving up 16 hits through six innings. She also walked one and allowed a home run. Simpson went 1 for 2 with two runs and a walk. Rodriguez was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Ruby Sa’avedra accounted for the other RBI. 
Against Solano, Gavilan took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first. Their opponents scored at least one run in the remaining four innings to take a 13-2 lead before the Rams pushed three across in the bottom of the fifth. 
Simpson led the team with three RBIs, a triple and a run screed. Parraz and Rodriguez drove in the other two runs. Parraz was also the losing pitcher, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits through four and two-thirds innings. She also walked two and gave up a homer. 
Gavilan (5-20 overall, 0-7 in conference) will be back in action at 3 p.m. today to host Chabot.
