GILROY—Foothill snapped Gavilan’s undefeated conference win streak, handing the Rams a 3-1 loss Wednesday in Gilroy.
The Owls took a 2-0 game lead after winning the first two sets 25-19, 25-13. Gavilan rebounded in Set 3 and held off Foothill to win 25-21. But the visitors got back on track in the final set to close things out with a 25-15 victory.
Erica Chapa led the offense with 15 kills, 19 assists and two aces in addition to 20 digs. Valerie Rodgers tallied 24 digs and two aces for the Rams. Madison Hartman added eight kills.
The Rams (10-8 overall, 5-1 in conference) will be back on the court at 6:30 p.m. Friday to host De Anza.

Rams fall to UC Santa Cruz
Gavilan lost 2-0 in an exhibition game to UC Santa Cruz Tuesday on the road.
Stats and scoring from this game were not available.
The Rams (0-9-1 overall, 0-5-1 in conference) will be back on the pitch at 4 p.m. Friday to host Las Positas.
