QUINCY—Gavilan went 0-2 at the Feather River College Classic Saturday in Quincy.
The Rams opened with a 3-1 loss to Feather River, falling 13-25, 22-25, 25-20, 12-25. Gavilan then fell 22-25, 25-15, 19-25, 22-25 to San Joaquin Delta.
Errors proved to be the team’s Achilles heel as it combined for 50 through two games.
Samantha Nydam led the team with 23 kills in the Classic. She notched 12 against Feather River and 11 versus SJD. Erica Chapa scored 10 kills against SJD and also accounted for 32 assists as well as 20 digs. Valerie Rodgers led the Rams in digs against SJD with 24.
Madison Hartman tallied 10 kills in the Feather River match. Chapa racked up 28 assists and an ace, while Rodgers had 18 digs.
Gavilan (4-6) will play its final preseason tournament at the Fullerton College Classic Friday. It opens conference play with a crossover match with San Francisco City at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30 for the Rams’ home opener.
