FAIRFIELD—Gavilan talked a lot about cohesiveness prior to the season and on Friday, the Rams put their words into action.
Gavilan’s group effort helped it swept Solano and Napa at the Solano College Classic tournament. The Rams beat Solano 25-10, 25-18, 25-22 in the opener and Napa 25-21, 25-14, 25-10.
The team shared the offensive and defensive duties. Six different Rams scored against Solano and seven against Napa. Courtney Borja led Gavilan against Solano with 14 kills and 11 digs. Madison Hartman notched eight kills. Erica Chapa brought it all together with 35 assists.
Alexia Balistreri and Borja both had six kills against Napa. Greer Watson, Haleigh Hawkins, Hartman and Chapa all had four. Chapa also had 18 assists and 10 digs. Balistreri served up three aces against Napa.
The Rams (2-0) will be back in action on Friday when they play in the Delta College Classic at 6 p.m.

Rams drop second straight game
Gavilan lost its second straight game, falling 3-1 to Lassen in Monday’s home opener.
