The Rams won three games to even their overall baseball record at 5-5 as they prepare for this weekend’s three-game set in Gilroy against Barstow College.

Gavilan opened the southern swing with a 5-1 win Thursday over Los Angeles Mission College. The Rams swept Los Angeles City College, 11-4 and 12-7, Friday.

It was a particularly positive experience for Gavilan after last Tuesday’s game against West Hills College, when the Rams blew a 6-0 lead and lost 10-6.

The Rams have a doubleheader against Barstow beginning at 11am Saturday. The teams meet again at 11am Sunday.

Softball

The Gavilan women’s softball had four games this past weekend wiped out by rain.

“It would have been nice to have had one more opportunity to get some games in before league starts,” Rams’ coach Nikki Dequin-Thompson said.

Gavilan opens its Coast Conference schedule at 2pm today at Monterey Peninsula College. That’s the start of a three-game road schedule for the Rams, whose next home game is Feb. 22 against West Valley College.
