The school year is nearing completion, which means calendars are
packed with education-related events from award ceremonies to
graduation.
Gilroy – The school year is nearing completion, which means calendars are packed with education-related events from award ceremonies to graduation.

Tonight students, parents, educators and district officials will fill the new Gilroy High School student center to see what awards are bestowed upon which seniors. Scholarships and various awards will be given out during the 7pm ceremony.

Also tonight at 7pm, the Gilroy Unified School District board will meet with city officials to discuss the new high school. The joint planning commission meeting will be held in the council chambers.

On Wednesday, retiring district staff will be honored at a special dinner in the GHS student center at 5pm. On Thursday, Bunton Clifford Associates, Inc., the company building Gilroy’s new high school will stage a town hall meeting at 7pm in the district board room. Phase one of the Christopher High School construction, which is scheduled for completion by fall of 2009, will house up to 900 students.

Meanwhile, students who completed Gilroy’s adult education program will receive their diplomas on Friday at 6:30pm in the GHS theater.
