Both will go through background checks before a final candidate
is selected
Gilroy – In two days the field has been narrowed from seven to two in the search for a new Gilroy High School principal.
Four candidates completed a second round of interviews with a meet and greet panel of eight community members, GHS staff, students and parents, as well as Gilroy Unified School District employees.
All four candidates from Monday’s interviews met Tuesday with the meet and greet panel at once – a process new to the district.
Afterwards, the applicants interviewed with the executive team, comprised of the GUSD’s four superintendents who then cut the field to two.
“Now we are starting the process of reference checks,” said Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Linda Piceno. “It all just kind of depends on what we hear from the people who worked with them.”
The process may take a few days for the checks to be completed, Piceno warned.
However, if the findings are positive, Superintendent Edwin Diaz may make a recommendation to the school board as early as the next school board meeting Aug. 4.
The principal’s job opened in late June after Bob Bravo resigned to accept a position in the East Bay.
The new principal will earn from $92,306 to $109,784.
