The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new smartphone application this month that lists all Chamber members and provides real-time directions to local businesses, according to CEO Mark Turner.
The free application, available on all iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android-based devices, also lists Chamber-hosted events in Gilroy, provides reminders about open houses and links directly to the websites of Chamber members.
“With more and more people using mobile devices to communicate and shop, it only makes sense for the chamber to offer this opportunity to its membership,” Turner said. “The next time you think of the Gilroy Chamber, remember, there’s an app for that.”
According to recent research by the Pew Research Center, 91 percent of American adults have a cell phone and 67 percent of all cell phone users check their phone for messages even when it isn’t ringing or vibrating.
“It’s safe to say that consumers are going mobile and with the average U.S. smartphone user downloading and using 32 apps, the chamber is well positioned to provide increased benefits to its members,” Turner added.
A listing for all Chamber members is provided free of charge, he assured.
