Vice President and General Manager Barb Granter speaks during the Water Oasis groundbreaking ceremony Friday at Gilroy Gardens. It will be a half acre with a splash pad, water journey and lagoon that will open mid-June 2014 with a cost of about $2 million

Just in time for Gilroy’s warm summer temperatures, Gilroy Gardens’ latest play area, “Water Oasis,” opens to the public Saturday, July 19.
This new half-acre attraction features three unique play elements that will encourage kids to learn about water—while playing in it: Water Journey, Lagoon and Splash Pad. Kids can pump and direct the flow of water, get soaked by giant flowers and slide into a lagoon. Water Oasis will appeal to families with children ages 8 and under looking to escape the summer heat.
This is The Gardens largest capital investment since 2005, when Splash Garden was added to the park.
