Has everyone been to the new Wal-Mart yet? People still don’t get it do they? Wal-Mart is alright isn’t it? The crowds, the parking … a store so big you’re lost as soon as your enter! And what about 10th Street now? Boy, on some nights it’s a racetrack out there. Where are the police at night? I have lived here my whole life and I’ve never seen such a mess.
For the people who like this, that’s nice, but what about our small-town way of life? Sorry, see you later, the corporate way has become the norm now. So much for progress, we are now inundated with Starbucks and corporate greed. Who cares about the unions or the Republicans they’re a bunch of losers, too. You can have Wal-Mart, it’s a joke. Too bad a lot of good, hard-working people have to sweat there. What a waste!
But Gilroy is the real loser. Our council, mayor, and city administrator are only in it for the money. Look around you, the signs are everywhere.
But before you judge me as being negative or not a true Gilroyan think about this: Who is really benefitting by all this, the town, the people? The mayor says he does not have to protect the business element in Gilroy. I get the feeling that means everyone!
So really what do you think of Wal-Mart? Is it really just to give us more choices for shoppers or is it just another greedy scam on the public to just make more money for the city. You be the judge.
But think about this: Does Wal-Mart need the money a super center will get for them? Will their employees get profit-sharing from all the extra money this new center generates?
If (you like) giant stores, huge lines of people, cheap merchandise, cheap food, bad parking, rude people and hectic, fast-paced service (not to mention untrained workers, overwhelmed like everyone else) then Wal-Mart is for you.
