Nick Gonzales passed away in Hollister, last Sunday at the age of 83. He was born in Hollister and has lived here all his life. Nick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Hollister Elk's Lodge and the V.F.W. Post 9242 of Hollister. Nick had been a local TV Repairman and antenna installer for over 30 years and later became a weight master for Tri-Valley Cannery.
Derek Anthony Silva, 39, of Hollister, was called home June 19, 2009. He is survived by his wife Maria Elena, sons Jacob, Cole, and Alden; his loving parents, sisters and brother. He was a loving husband, devoted dad, dedicated phone-man, man of God, scout-Dad extraordinaire, friend to everyone, and a beautiful soul.

Virginia Brown Snead, very possibly San Benito County's oldest resident, died here June 22, 2009. She had celebrated her 108th birthday on June 4th of this year at the Mabie Center, Southside, in Hollister.
Passed away at St. Louise Hospital on Thursday, June 18, 2009 due to complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Daughter of the late Leopoldo and Consuelo Baltazar. Mother of Joseph Baltazar, and Danelle Baltazar of Gilroy. Sister of Polly Mercado, Peter Baltazar, Joe Baltazar, Manuel Baltazar, Paul Baltazar, Yolanda De La Cruz, Esther Rivera, Rosemary Baltazar and the late Roy Baltazar.
