Wendell joined his flight of Angels after a six month illness at home, leaving behind Alice Marie Peterson, his wife of 26 years. Also surviving him are brother Norman (Margaret) Peterson, sisters Rachel Brown of Merced, CA, Florene Tyre of Branson, Mo, daughters Diann Peterson of Castaic, CA, Laurie Hallum of Redding, CA, Rebecca(Sam) Bauman of Wilsonville, OR, step-sons Victor (Roxanne )Wilson of Redmond, OR, Robert (Stephanie) Wilson of Gilroy, CA and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was a flight instructor for the Army Aircorps during WWII. He was also a respected retired member of Carpenters Union Local #405 for over 50 years as well as a member of the American Legion of Gilroy, the Eastern Star, Freemasons and a 32degree of the Scottish Rites. He lead a long life with involvement in many organizations and interests too numerous to mention. He died at home surrounded by family. There will be no service and the family requests that instead of flowers a donation be made to your favorite charity in Wendell's name.
Although he intended to die in a rock climbing accident at age 104, cancer claimed Bob at age 66. He enjoyed 39 years of marriage to Sandy. His wife, 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. He cherished his daily devotion to family. His life serves as an example and an inspiration. After his BS/MS in electrical engineering at Stanford, he joined the Peace Corps for 2 years in Chile, teaching at the University of Santiago and climbing mountains. He was an engineer at IBM, STC-CRC, Adaptec, and Sun Microsystems before his last 8 years at Brocade Communications. He helped define the pathway of information storage protocols and technology, from the inception of SCSI to the development and expansion of Fibre Channel. As the chair of multiple technical committees and head of the US Delegation to ISO/IEC subcommittees, he defined rational interfaces to shape the future of storage connections. A backyard farmer, he spent long hours tending his trees and vines. He loved the outdoors; hiking (preferably above the tree line), sailing and traveling. His concern for sustainability and conservation guided his daily actions.
John Alciati, 85 years old, passed away peacefully at his home in Morgan Hill surrounded by his loving family. John was a lifelong resident of Morgan Hill where he farmed prunes, walnuts & grapes. He believed in the tradition of farmers helping each other. John volunteered for the Morgan Hill Police Auxiliary and served 13 loyal years. He also was a member of the Gilroy Elks & the Morgan Hill Full Blooded Italian Club. John enjoyed playing softball, where he was a pitcher, and also enjoyed vacationing in Lake Tahoe. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather & friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Elsie, and his 3 children, Don (Sandy) Alciati, Al (Sharon) Alciati and Rita (Sean) Nyulassy, as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Catherine's Church, in Morgan Hill, on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. James P. Garske passed away in Hollister at the age of 85. He was born in Duluth, MN and moved to Hollister from Soquel in1989. He married his wife, Eileen, in 1951 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. He was a member of Sacred Heart/St. Benedict's Church, a past member of the Lions Club and the VFW. He presently was a member of SIRS and donated his time to Community Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, singing and making people laugh.
Vincent E. Sanchez of Gilroy, CA passed from this earth on Monday, January 12, 2009, at the age of 90 years. Vincent has joined Martha, the love of his life, who preceded him in death in Nov. 2007. Vincent is survived by his sisters, Lupe Sanchez and Carmen Sanchez of Gilroy. Vincent's four children Diana McDonald (son-in-law, Bob) of San Jose, Carole Knapel of Eugene, OR, Gary and Steven of Gilroy will miss their father's good natured spirit and wit. Vincent was also the proud and loving grandfather of eight, great-grandfather of five and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley Stump 82 years old passed away in Henderson, NV. just 7 weeks following the death of her husband of 35 years Eldon Stump, both of natural causes. Shirley grew up in Ventura, raised her family in the San Martin/Morgan Hill area before retiring to the Boulder City/Henderson, NV area in 1993. She was preceeded in death by her youngest son Jimmy Barber and is survived by her oldest son Douglas Barber and grandaughter Nicole Barber of the Henderson/Las Vegas area. Shirley, while living in the Morgan Hill area, was very active in fund raising for various cancer charities and enjoyed many years of volunteering at St. Judes Ranch. She will be missed by many friends and family. Service will be held on Wednesday January 21 at 2:00 P.M. and the Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City, NV, where she will join Eldon.
Entered into her new life on January 13, 2009 surrounded in her home by her husband of 50 years Jim, her three children Michael, Kelly and Trisha, as well as her grandchildren. Her sister, Lolly, her closest living relativre, was also present and cared for her often during Helen's 41 hospitalizations and 29 surgeries for cancer and the effects of radiation.
Nadine passed away peacefully in Gilroy, CA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Pamona, KS. She moved to CA in 1957 with the love of her life Arthur E. Patterson, whom she now joins in heaven. Nadine was a devoted member of WIT, PEO, Elks Club, Book Club and Gilroy Presbyterian Church. She loved music, singing and dancing. She is survived by her daughters Rebecca Patterson and Jan Patterson, her grandchildren Janis Ragsdale, Jake Domer and Ruth Doyle, as well as her 10 great-grand children. She is preceded in death by her sisters Wilma and Marilyn, and survived by her loving sisters Irene, Elva and Evelyn. She will be missed by her many friends and family. A celebration of Nadine's life will be held at Gilroy Presbyterian Church at 3:30 P.M. on Sat. Jan. 24th. In lieu flowers please send donations to UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center
