Catalina Lopez Mendoza passed away at her home January 7, 2009 surrounded by her family. Catalina was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jose Mendoza and their son Bernardo Mendoza. She is survived by her children Natividad Ayala, Rosa Aguirre, Isabel Arroyo, Jorge Mendoza, Maria Mendoza, and Trini Mendoza; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren all of Gilroy.
Kip Myers Brundage lost his brief, but extremely brave, battle with cancer on December 28, 2008. He was loved by all who knew him. Shirley passed away peacefully on January 5, 2009. She is survived by her three children Sandra, Garry and Debbie, her two sons-in-law Stan and Chip and six grandchildren Alex, Kyle, Michelle, Cortney, Evan and Brianna. Shirley was preceded in death by John her husband of over 50 years. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother and grandmother and loved by all who knew her. She was a long time member of the San Martin Presbyterian Church, she served as a deacon and was active in the woman's association and choir. She leaves us with many happy memories. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 10th at 1:00 P.M. at the San Martin Presbyterian Church.
Clara M. Joyce passed away at her home on January 2, 2009 she was 91. Clara is survived by her sons James and wife Sherry Joyce of Redwood City, Frank and his wife Teresa Joyce of Carmel Valley and Michael and his wife Bonnie Joyce of Menlo Park, grandmother of Russell, Michael, Jennifer , Benjamin and his wife Becky, great-grandmother of Maddy. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell and daughter Mary Ann. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Clara was born in South Dakota and came to Gilroy in the late 70's, she was very active in community clubs , being an officer in Gilroy Seniors, Gilroy Fil-Am, Senior Bowling, Community Seniors Club, Gilroy Senior Site Council as well as her involvement at St. Mary's Church. Donations in her memory to the St. Mary's School Building Fund or a favorite charity are preferred and appreciated.
Shirley Sergent, beloved wife and best friend of Dan Sergent, passed away peacefully in a hospital near their home in Hollister on Dec. 30th, after a difficult six-month illness. She was a devoted wife, a life-long super caring mother to her children and a terrific musician.
