Passed away in Hollister at the age of 85.

Harry Wesley Ramsay

Harry Wesley Ramsay, after a brief illness, went to rest on December 30th, 2008. Born October 11, 1930 in Boston, MA to Harold Wesley Ramsay and Margaret Catherine Shedden. Harry started working while still in High School. He traveled, working his way through early adulthood, enjoying the beautiful sites the country offered. Work brought him to California where he met his first wife (Marjorie Ann Russel), children – Karen O'Brien, David Ramsay. They opened "Harry's" restaurant and bar in Northbeach, San Francisco in the 1950's. After many years of diligent, resourceful, attempts, the two parted and the business closed later. In the 1960's, Harry met Sally (Burrows). They owned and operated a catering business amongst other endeavors. Children – William Ross Ramsay, Harry Wesley Ramsay Junior, step-children – Leslie Justice, David Justice, Dinah (Nova) Fuentes.

Bep Jordan

Passed away peacefully on December 24. She was married for almost forty years to Floyd Jordan, who retired from teaching for 38 years at San Juan Bautista Elementary School. They lived in Hollister throughout their marriage. Bep was born Albertje Tijhof in the Hague, Holland in 1917, the youngest child of four siblings, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1958. Her body has left us, but she will always remain in the loving memory of the family and friends. Memorial and interment are private.

Charles William O’Brien

Charles William O'Brien passed away at St. Louise Regional Medical Center on December 25th at the age of 77 years. Charles was born in Hollister, and lived in Hollister all his life. He was a graduate of San Benito High School and was active in both football and track. After being afflicted with polio, Charlie was the first person in San Benito County to utilize the iron lung. Charlie was a U. S. Postal employee for 35 years as well as being a volunteer fireman, and a member of the Lions and Elk's organizations. He always enjoyed assisting on their barbeques. Charles is survived by his son Mark O'Brien of Japan, his daughter Kimberly P. Rivera of Colorado Springs, his granddaughter and grandson Jessica P. Rivera and Marco A. Granger-Rivera of Colorado. He was predeceased by his brother John O'Brien. As per his wishes no services are planned. Private cremation and inurnment has been held. Kip Myers Brundage

Kip passed away on Dec. 28 after a brief illness. He was a longtime farmer in the Santa Clara Valley and the owner of G & K Farms in Gilroy. He is survived by his wife, Renee of Morgan Hill, sisters Ann Fitinghoff of Los Gatos and Martha Maio of Phoenix, AZ. and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Henderika Brundage who lived for many years in San Jose and Los Gatos. Services will be held on January 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill. A full obituary will be in Friday's paper.

James R. Winstead

Passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 78.

Gary Joseph Gallo

Gary was born December 7, 1950 to Joe and Juanita Gallo. He lost his brief but brave battle with cancer on December 29, 2008. Gary was born and raised in Gilroy. He resided in Santa Cruz for the past 30 years. He graduated from Gilroy High School in 1969, served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 3. Gary loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.

Geralyn Simmons

Geralyn, loving, good sister, mother, wife and friend, unexpectedly died at home the evening of December 27, 2008.

Raul Ramiro Salgado

Passed away in San Jose at the age of 58.

Betty K. Scagliotti

After winning a courageous battle against cancer 13 years ago our beloved wife, mother, and friend Betty Scagliotti passed away peacefully on December 28, 2008. A life long resident of Hollister, Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years Jerry, and her two sons Rob (Sharyn, John, and Samantha), and Tim all of Hollister. She is survived by her sisters Helen McKnown (Wayne) and June Dovin (late Bob) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Mary Banks and Margaret Ramsey. Betty leaves behind many friends who loved and admired her strength, courage, and love of life. Betty was a charter member of the Y.L.I., Sacred Heart Mother's Club, and the Los Rojos Sombreros. As a active member of each, her participation was appreciated. She was last employed at Ladd Hardware where her smile and personality made her a favorite with customers and co-workers. Betty's zest for life and bright smile touched all who knew and loved her.
