Walnut Creek resident Ralph D. Filice D.D.S., age 65 passed away Sunday August 6th 2008 after an incredibly courageous 5th battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy, daughter Nicole and her husband Ed, sons David and Daniel, brothers George and Ernie, sister Mary Jane, and beloved dog "Audrey". Ralph was an incredibly loving and devoted family man whose greatest pleasure was spending time with those he loved. Ralph was raised in Gilroy, CA and graduated from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, CA. He then went on to Creight on Dental School in Nebraska. While at Creighton he was selected for the prestigious "Who's Who in American Universities". In 1968 upon graduating from Creighton Ralph spent 2 years in the army at Fort Knox, Kentucky in the dental corps with an emphasis in oral surgery. It is there where he met his beloved wife Nancy. In 1969 he married Nancy, moved to Moraga, California and in 1970 opened his own private dental practice. Over the course of a 28 year career Ralph, in partnership with his wife, developed one of the most successful dental practices in the country. He was a member of Rotary International in Moraga where he was a past president. Ralph was known and respected by his patients and colleagues for his care and the artistry he brought to the dental profession. Upon retiring from dentistry in 1999 he and Nancy moved to Walnut Creek where he went on to pursue a variety of artistic endeavors including acting for film and TV, theater, voice over work, stand-up comedy, and writing. During the course of his acting career he appeared in over 10 movies and 20 theater productions, as well as appearing in documentaries that aired on A&E and The History Channel. In his spare time Ralph loved family trips to Maui, where he enjoyed scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming. He was also an extremely talented and very accomplished classical pianist. A Memorial Service celebrating Ralph's life will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 1101 Keaveny Drive in Walnut Creek on Thursday August 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Marie Marian Kaneko, 67 of Stockton, CA and Lodi, CA passed away peacefully at home in Lodi in the presence of her family after a three year battle with lung cancer.
Loving, faithful wife and mother Priscilla T. Arredondo was called to our Lord's side August 9,2008. She was surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by husband Frank, sons Frankie, Patrick, Robert and daughter-in-law Fran. She was known to most by the name to most as Pat. She was very special and loving to all. She had one of those rare personalities that radiated warmth and kindness. She was married for 66 years to her husband and the last 40 years of her life was spent living in Gilroy where she was very active in church activities and was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary.She leaves behind 5 grandchildren and eleven great-grand children. She surely will be missed. Visitation will begin Friday, August 15, 2008 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy with Mass to follow 11:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Gilroy.
Born in Preston, Oklahoma, he was one week shy of 85 years old when he died in Medford, Oregon. Preceded in death by his wife, Miranda Canzada Coker Jones, and his son George "Woody" Jones. He is survived by his generous older brother, Will "Floyd" Jones, 88 years old of Central Point, OR, his two daughters, Barbara Jones Redmond of Santa Cruz, and Shirley Jones Stockwell of Willits, CA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Kimberly Redmond Ott, Brian Erk, and Cyndi Claxton, and four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Travis, and Katelyn all of California. He died with his nephew Charles "Chuck" Cole at his side, whom he always described as being like a son, along with his caretakers, to whom the family is very grateful. May God keep him and bless his soul. He will be returned to and buried with his wife in Hollister. Funeral services will be held at IOOF Cemetery on Buena Vista Road in Hollister on Monday, August 11th, at 10:00 A.M.
John Louis Saccullo passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 63 on August 4, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife Mary; son Richard, step son Larry (Dixie) Florio; grandchildren Talia and David Florio; brother Dominick (Martha) Saccullo of Livermore, sister Loretta (Sherman) Cantrell of Elko, NV; as well as many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss his bright smile and zest for life.
Gloria Jane Jones passed away Sunday evening June 28th at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy, CA after suffering a hemorrhage stroke on April 1st. She was 86 years old. She was born in Los Angeles, and came to Hollister in January of 1997. She was born to Jack and Virginia Goodwin and attended high school in Los Angeles, received her degree from San Diego State University in Education and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Administration.
