The Santa Clara County Coroner’s office has identified a man killed after crashing his car into a tree as 29-year-old Morgan Hill resident Miguel Rubio.
The fatal crash was reported at 3:14 a.m. Sunday at the 7900 block of Arroyo Circle in Gilroy. Rubio, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was driving a 1972 Dodge pick-up truck.
A person recycling cans in the area reported the crash to the police, said Gilroy Police Department Sgt. Jim Gillio.
The cause has not yet been determined, and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
Gillio said an investigation into the cause of the accident can take up to two months. Police do not yet know which direction Rubio was heading.
