Give Blood and Help Save Lives

Gilroy – Donate blood at the Church Hall, 8455 Wren, from 1:30 to 6:30pm, Monday, July 16.

The American Red Cross Northern California Blood Services Region is experiencing a shortage of blood. Donations routinely drop in the summer, and this year is no exception. The decline in donations has threatened the availability of the community blood supply.

While there is an ongoing need for all blood types, Type O-Negative donors are especially needed. Type O-Negative is the “universal” blood type; it can be transfused into any patient regardless of their own blood type. Because type O-Negative blood is “universal”, it will often be transfused during emergencies when there is insufficient time to determine the patient’s own blood type without an increased risk of loss of life.

Call 1-800-Give-Life, or go to www.BeADonor.com (Code: GILROY) to schedule an appointment.
