A 28-year-old Gilroy woman was killed early Saturday morning in a solo crash on Highway 101 north of Sixth Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Crystal De La Torre, a 28-year-old Gilroy resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

At 4:16 a.m., the CHP responded to the accident north of the Sixth Street overpass. The 2003 Honda Accord struck a tree, according to the CHP.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role, according to the CHP.
