SAN JOSE – The Gilroy Little League girls Majors All-Star team completed a bulldozer-like charge through the District 59 tournament with a 21-1 triumph over Evergreen to hoist the championship banner Tuesday night in San Jose.

Fresh off of an 18-0 whitewashing against the same Evergreen team to advance to Tuesday’s final, the all-stars bested that 16-hit performance by collecting 21 this time around.

“The girls hit the ball very well all tournament,” manager Ed Castro said.

Pati Soria, who is often the catalyst, recorded another four hits, and Cynthia Delreal, Nikki Villanueva and Adrianna Figone all had three. With a burst of power, Mackenzie Holt blasted a home run to contribute to the overflowing stat box.

As it has throughout the postseason, the pitching duo of Lauren Castro and Anna Gamboa kept the opposing hitters at bay once again.

Castro struck out all six batters she faced, only needing 21 pitches to get through her two innings in the circle. Gamboa also pitched well in her two innings of work.

Gilroy will travel up to Martinez on Saturday to start the Northern California Division II tournament.

“They are all excited to get to play in the state tournament,” Castro said.
