Paul Casey, the 18th-ranked golfer in the world, according to the Official World Golf Rankings, and 1996 British Open champion, Justin Leonard are among the latest to commit to playing the Frys.com Open at CordeValle in San Martin, tournament officials announced Tuesday.
Casey, who reached as high as third in the World Gold Rankings in 2009, was slotted as high as fifth this season before a foot injury held him out of action.
The one-time PGA Tour winner, 11-time European Tour champion and three-time European Ryder Cup Team member, attended Arizona State University where he became the first male to win three straight Pacific 10 championships (1998-00.)
Leonard, who was in the 132-player field of last year’s Frys.com Open, is a 12-time Tour winner and three-time U.S. Ryder Cup member.
Two-time PGA Tour victor Paul Goydos, two-time international President’s Cup team member Nick O’Hern and Steve Elkington, a 10-time PGA Tour winner including two Players Championships (1991 and 1997) and the 1995 PGA Championship, also entered their names into the Oct. 5-9 PGA Tour Fall Series Event.
