CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin will remain the host site of the Frys.com Open through 2013, tournament officials announced Thursday.

In the PGA Tour’s recently reconfigured schedule, the Frys.com Open, scheduled for Oct. 7-13, 2013, will lead off the 2013-14 FedExCup season.

It was in the original plans to have CordeValle be the host from 2010 to 2012, but clubhouse construction at the John Fry’s course, The Institute in Morgan Hill, will not be completed in time to welcome the PGA stop in 2013.

“The players consider CordeValle to be an excellent course in a beautiful setting, offering wonderful hospitality at the resort,” tournament president Duke Butler said. “We are fortunate to continue an outstanding relationship with the club.”

This year’s tournament, slated for Oct. 8-14, will welcome back 2012 British Open champion Ernie Els, who has already committed to return. The Golf Channel will televise the tournament worldwide to more than 250 countries.

Rocco Mediate won the 2010 title and in 2011 Bryce Molder earned the trophy in a six-hole playoff over Briny Baird.

Twelve previous major championship winners, including Tiger Woods last year, have played in the tournaments at CordeValle.
