Local tumblers of USA Sport Connection team compete in
Concord
CONCORD – USA Sport Connection gymnasts traveled to Concord last weekend to participate in Michael Anthony’s Gymnastics annual Concord Cup gymnastics meet.
During Saturday’s rotation, the Class 6-7 boys once again demonstated their formidable talent as they scored high on all events.
CLASS 6
Kurtis Pedrazzi (12+ age division) placed 1st on vault (9.45), 2nd on rings (9.2), 3rd on floor (8.7), 3rd on pommel (9.2), 3rd on parallel bars, 3rd on horizontal bar (9.5), and 3rd All Around (55.2).
Vanya Avilla (9-10 age division), placed 1st on rings (9.0), 1st on vault (9.45), 3rd on pommel (8.3), 3rd on parallel bars (8.4), 4th on horizontal bar (8.15), 5th on floor (8.7), and 3rd All Around (52.0).
Gabriel Hatcher (7-8 age division), placed 2nd on vault (9.4), 7th on pommel, 7th on horizontal bar, 9th on floor, 9th on rings, and 10th on parallel bars.
CLASS 7
Darren Coates (12+ age division), placed 3rd on parallel bars (9.4), 3rd on pommel (8.8), 5th on vault (8.9), 6th on rings (9.1), 7th on floor (9.0), and 9th on horizontal bars.
Kyle Brown (9-10 age division), placed 1st on rings with a perfect score (9.7), 2nd on floor (9.4), 5th on parallel bars (9.3), 6th on pommel (8.4), 7th on horizontal bar, and 9th on vault (8.5).
The boys, coached by Thomas Lopes, travel to Santa Cruz on March 6th to participate in the Region 1 Zone Championships. Finalists will move on to participate in the NCBGA State Meet on March 20-21 in Fremont. Finalists from the NCBGA State Meet will then compete at the Region 1 Championships in Phoenix on April 4.
During Sunday’s rotation, in their sixth NCWGA meet, the Level 4 girls team were liberally rewarded for their diligent labors.
LEVEL 4
(7-9 age division)
Lise Avilla placed 3rd on the vault (8.925), 3rd on the balance beam (8.75), 3rd on the floor (8.65), and 8th on the uneven bars.
Emily Rianda placed 1st on the vault (9.025), 3rd on the uneven bars (8.175), 4th on the balance beam (8.55), and 8th on the floor.
Jacquelynn Fisher placed 10th on the vault (8.35) and 10th on the floor.
LEVEL 4
(12+ age division)
Alysia Brown placed 4th on the uneven bars, 5th on the vault (8.625), 5th on the floor (8.075), and 10th on the balance beam.
The girls, coached by Colleen Fisher, will finish up their Winter competitive season on March 6 at Twister’s Caribbean Carnivale in Mountain View.
