Level 4s tally team-high score in all-around, take home nine
awards from San Bruno meet
SAN BRUNO – The Morgan Hill Gymnastics team –made up of local gymnasts from South County area – competed in its last meet of the regular season at the Last Chance Invitational in San Bruno.

The Level 4s took third in team awards, missing second place by only .025 points. All of the Level 4 gymnasts received their highest all-around scores of the season. In the 10-over age group, the locals brought home nine out of 15 awards in the top three places – taking four first-places, three seconds, and two thirds.

The Level 4s finished their season with all but one girl competing in all four compulsory events and all girls competing in at least three. At the beginning of the season, only four of nine girls competed in all four events and only six of nine competed in more than two events.

Although it was the last meet of the regular competition season for most of the girls, 10-year-old Amanda Suniga (Level 5), who also had a season-high all around score on Sunday, will compete at the Zone Championships next weekend in Monterey.

Suniga finished seventh in the Level 5 all-around for ages 9-10 by placing third on beam, sixth on floor, seventh on bars, and 11th on vault. Teammate Melina Sagor followed with a 15th-place showing in the all-around – taking 12th on vault, 14th on beam, and 15th on floor and bars.

At Level 4 in the seven-year-old age group, Caroline Seifert finished eighth in the all-around by placing fifth on both vault and beam as well as sixth on floor. Teammate Samantha Laird, 7, did not compete.

In the eight-year-old group, Jordan Fedalizo was eighth overall – finishing fifth on both floor and vault, eighth on bars, and ninth on beam. Teammate Alexis DeHaven placed 11th in the all-around – scoring third on vault, sixth on beam, 13th on floor and 14th on bars.

In the nine-year-old group, Danielle Risner finished 10th in the all-around by placing sixth on both floor and bars as well as 10th on beam and 13th on vault. Teammate Jaime Webb was 12th overall – taking sixth on floor, seventh on both vault and beam, and 11th on bars.

Twelve-year-old Jaclyn Dixon won the all-around in the 10-over division – placing second on both floor and bars, third on beam, and sixth on vault. Ten-year-old teammate Alex Saquella was third in the all-around – finishing first on beam, second on vault, sixth on bars, and 10th on floor. In addition, 11-year-old Emelie Hertz took sixth overall by scoring first on both floor and bars, ninth on vault, and 13th on beam.
