Dear Editor,
The big question is, have 46,000 New York residents illegally registered to vote in Florida and New York, and did they vote in both states in the presidential election?
Ask yourself why would so many New Yorkers, and only New Yorkers, take the chance of being charged with the federal crime of voter fraud which has a fine of $10,000 and five years in prison and have their votes wiped out. There would be no possible end that could justify the means.
But what if there was a legal way for a person to be both a New York and a Florida resident and have the right to register and vote in either state? Please note that I used the adjective “either” and not the pronoun “both.”
Florida statutes section 97,041 allows “snow birds” to vote in Florida even if they only have a part-time residence in the state or if they intend to make Florida their permanent resident state.
Researching the allegations in Cynthia Walker’s column I found www.operationsnowbirds.com. It explains how and why operation snow bird was started in the first place and why New Yorkers can legally vote in Florida. This is not the illegal enterprise it has been alleged to by truly biased journalism of the conservative Daily News, an online “newspaper.”
