Prune box 10

Everyone knows Gilroy is the Garlic Capital, but did you know this area used to be a prune-producing powerhouse?

Al Gagliardi, a class of ’42 Gilroy High School Alumnus and former Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputy of 31 years, is working to publish – with the help of the Gilroy Historical Society – a book about his collection of 350 prune box ends.

And to be complete, he is asking for the community’s help in identifying as many of these mysterious boxes as possible.

Have any tips or information that can help Al complete his book? Email Phill Laursen at ph******@gm***.com.
