Gilroy – Help U Sell Real Estate captured the Men’s EE League softball crown Thursday with a 14-11 victory over ACP at Gavilan Sports Park.
Matt Coughlin went 4-for-4 and Benito Landeros slugged a two-run home run as the Realtors (6-0) took the second-half title over 5-1 ACP. Help U Sell also earned the first-half title after the original first-half champion, New Hope Community Church, added a second-half championship in the E League.
Jaime Rosso added three hits to the Help U Sell attack. Louie Vasquez went 4-for-4 and Brian Jett bagged a double and two singles for ACP.
Adam Whitney ripped a home run, double and single as Gamers In Control trimmed the Good Ole Boys by a score of 16-14.
Adam Martinez provided four hits for Gamers In Control. Brant Chacon powered a triple and two singles, Jeff Speno two singles and three runs scored for the Good Ole Boys.
The Mechanics went 4-2 for the Men’s BB League second half with a 6-4 nod over State Farm Insurance.
State Farm took a 4-3 lead in the fifth when Rodney Clore doubled and scored on a Mitch MacVicar single. The Mechanics responded with consecutive hits by Santos Savala, Danny Dolotina and Brian Pacis to strike for three markers in the bottom of the sixth.
Pacis went 3-for-3 to take game batting honors.
Scott Rader’s RBI-double highlighted a two-run rally in the top of the ninth inning as Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring tripped Dee’z Nutz 12-10. Steven Aguirre homered and doubled for the winners. Ed Gamboa went 3-for-5 for Dee’z Nutz.
Championship Series Week opens Wednesday Aug. 10 with tripleheaders at Christmas Hill and Las Animas Park.
Wednesday’s play at Christmas Hill opens at 6:30pm with the Slammers and the second-half representative from the Men’s D League. No Soup 4 You faces either Pro Electric or Dutchman’s Pizza in the Men’s CCC play at 7:40. The Men’s B League opens the series at 8:50.
Las Animas opens at 6:30pm on Wednesday with the Women’s C action between Goldsmith Seeds and the second-half champion. Aladdin-Rhino and California Silk Screening play in the Men’s CC League at 7:40, with the Women’s D tilt at 8:50.
Thursday Aug. 11 games at Christmas Hill are for the Men’s DD League at 6:30pm, C League (Bad News and Pacific Coast Bail Bonds) at 7:40, Co-Rec C League (Team Hair FX and either Ball Hoggs or Frame Your Family In Eyewear) at 8:50.
Thursday’s Las Animas games include D. A. Wolfe Construction and Good Fellas of the Men’s BB League at 6:30, the Titans and New Hope Community Church of the Men’s E League at 7:40, the Co-Rec B game at 8:50.
The second games of the Championship Series are on Friday and Monday, with third games as needed on Tuesday Aug. 16.
