Dear editor:
I submit to our community of Gilroy, our introduction of our newly founded Youth Association. The Gilroy Basketball Youth Association is a non-profit organization. Currently, the Gilroy Basketball Team is composed of youth between the ages of 13 to 15 and is expanding in the future.
The Gilroy Basketball team has recently earned the right to compete in the USA National Playoff in Las Vegas, Nevada in July.
My congratulations to the coaches, parents and the youth who successfully qualify in the National Playoffs. Once again our community is represented in a national competition arena; that’s why Gilroy earns the title of a great place to live.
Currently, the coaches and the team are requesting our financial support to represent our community in the National Playoffs. With our support, we can assist in making a dream come true.
Having an understanding of the hardship of fund raising, as the founder of the Gilroy AAU Wrestling Club, which celebrates 34 years of success in our community, I ask for your support on behalf of the Gilroy Basketball Youth Association at 2700 Paseo Robles Ave., San Martin, CA 95046 c/o Coach Ed Jensen.
In general, kudos to all the organizations and teams in our community for guiding our youth in the right direction. Many times gangs try to gain the spot light by misdirecting our youth.
Let’s wish the Gilroy Basketball Team our success!
Charles Morales, Gilroy City Council Member
