A little disappointed: Upset over the lack of coverage …
•
”
I’m just calling to let you know I’m a little disappointed with
the paper today, Saturday, Sept. 11. I thought it would be a little
nicer to see some commemoration for what the meaning of today is
and a reminder for us all to take a moment of silence, or of not
silence, but to walk around and wave our flags.
A little disappointed: Upset over the lack of coverage …
• “I’m just calling to let you know I’m a little disappointed with the paper today, Saturday, Sept. 11. I thought it would be a little nicer to see some commemoration for what the meaning of today is and a reminder for us all to take a moment of silence, or of not silence, but to walk around and wave our flags. Besides the small flag on the front page, Walking the walk, about voters, there’s nothing in the paper, besides on A4 … Lisa talks about Sept. 11 and had a nice article. Her article is about how Sept. 11 hasn’t changed us and I have to admit, look at the paper, it hasn’t. There’s nothing and the front page would have been a perfect forum for that.”
Unfortunately, there were no local events that we were aware of commemorating the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. We did have an article on Morgan Hill’s Patriot Day, which celebrated our military and honored those who died in the attacks.

Thanks for the coverage: This caller was touched by a recent tragic event.
• “I just wanted to call and thank you for the update on the people involved in that big crash on 101. I read the original article about the drunk woman who came on the wrong way to the offramp … I drive that stretch of 101 everyday and see the marks on the road, some debris and I guess the orange police marks from where the cars ended up, and it really sort of jolted me. … my heart goes out to that family, but not to the people in the car who hit them. I can’t imagine driving in two cars and just missing her and then seeing and knowing she just hit the rest of your family. It just blows me away that the woman was that drunk and the two others were that drunk to let her get behind the wheel … to let her actually pull onto the freeway the wrong way. I hope she’s punished to the full extent of the law. To the others, may your recovery be speedy and hopefully you know strangers are thinking about you and wishing you well. And I hope the Dispatch will give another update or two on the situation.”
Let’s hope a friend or family member sees this and passes the word along.

A pat on the back: Thanks for noticing, caller.
• “Bravo, Dispatch, bravo. Just wanted to call and let you know what an improvement the change in print is. It’s a lot better, so thank you. I was one of the ones who complained and I appreciate the fact that you considered what I and other people thought about it and said about it. I can get used to … I’ve gotten used to the other changes, but the light print was a tough one. So thank you.”
You’re welcome, and we thank you and all the others who offered feedback. We’ll give ourselves a nice pat on the back for the hard work.

Red Phone rocks: What else can we say?
• “Hi there Red Phone! I’ve never called the Red Phone before, and I don’t have anything juicy, but read the column everyday … or the twice a week it’s out. I think it’s a great column and I’d like to thank the Dispatch for such a creative column. It’s just funny sometimes and it gives interesting and sometimes valuable information. Saturday’s column was really good. That’s all. The Red Phone rocks. Thanks. And maybe I’ll have something juicy to call in about one of these days.”
The Red Phone has to admit that Saturday’s column was one of our favorites too. Thanks for the comments.
