Mayor Al Pinheiro delivers a hot meal to John Pinkerton, one of roughly 40 homebound South County seniors who depend on the Meals on Wheels program. The nationwide event ‘Mayors for Meals,’ turns out city mayors to fight hunger among seniors. Meals on Wheels participants in Santa Clara County are 83 years old, on average, and have an average monthly income of less than $1,000, said Renee Kellythorne, director of the program. Often they have no family living nearby. Volunteers can sign up to help by visiting www.thehealthtrustonline.org, or by calling Libby Combs at
