GILROY – Laura Hennessee poured in 31 points Monday to lead Gaeta’s Ballers past Williams Dental Lab 57-53 in Women’s Basketball League action at Solorsano Gymnasium.

Hennessee’s 14 baskets and a 3-for-3 showing at the line allowed Gaeta’s, the defending league champion, to remain in pennant contention for the first half. Gaeta’s is 4-1 entering Monday’s showdown with 5-0 Western Tree Nursery.

Williams Dental Lab surged to a 34-24 lead at the intermission and did not surrender the advantage until the closing six minutes of play.

Shante Mancera keyed the Williams Dental Lab attack, posting 21 points, including two three-point field goals. Emily Szyndrowski produced 10 of her 12 points in the first half as Williams built a lead.

Kisha Webster aided the Gaeta’s cause by scoring eight points in the second half.

Katie Harold popped in 16 points to help Western Tree past the Garlic Girls 50-21. Amanda Bakker added 12 points, Melanie Corona 11 for the league leaders. Wendy Filice accounted for 10 points, Jeannie Filice six for the Garlic Girls.

South Valley Disposal (4-1) remained tied atop the eight-team Men’s Basketball League with a 53-33 nod over the Gilroy Bulls Wednesday at Solorsano Gym.

Donnie Gooding scored 17 points in the first half as South Valley Disposal got out to a 20-17 lead. Rick Vasquez sparked the Disposal second-half surge with 12 points. Gooding finished with 16 points for game scoring honors, Vasquez settled for 16. Christopher Bibaeff struck for 10 points for the Gilroy Bulls.

Team Techron joined Disposal at 4-1 with a 57-38 victory over Hard Ninety.

Kevin Siha converted five 3-pointers on the way to 19 points for Techron. Frank Tomasetti followed with 17 points. Mark Taylan had three 3-pointers for the winners. Joe Wortham connected for 14 points, Sig Reynisson 13 for Hard Ninety.

Crunch Time rallied past the Warriors 38-35 to leave both teams at 3-2 in Men’s Basketball League action.

Tucker Baksa flipped in 12 points, Kyle Billups seven for the Crunchers. Mike Vanni led the Warrior offense with 11 points. Arnold Tellez scored eight Warrior points, Adolfo Tellez seven. The Warriors led 20-13 at halftime.

GF Farms moved to 3-2 by topping defending champion Valerie Smith Intero 55-53.

Cliff Dennett carried the GC Farms cause with 22 points, 14 in the second half, as the Farmers rebounded from a 28-20 deficit. Daniel Crowe hustled to 16 GC Farms points.

Kevin Steele led the Valerie Smith Intero (2-3) offense with 17 points. Marco Barbosa dropped in 15 points, Mark Cisneros 13 for the Realtors.
