Students Speak About Meeting Dalai Lama

Morgan Hill – Mt. Madonna students spoke at The Granary in Morgan Hill last week about their experience traveling through India and meeting with prominent political leaders, including the President of India Abdul Kalam, the Dalai Lama and U.S. Ambassador to India David Mulford. The students – which included senior Nina Castanon of San Martin and junior Ashley England of Morgan Hill – made the trip as part of a class at Mt. Madonna School. The class partnered up with the Dalai Lama Foundation to take part in “Project Happiness,” a study of personal ethics and the basis for lasting happiness.

“Happiness is a universal concern,” said Ward Mailliard, the teacher who traveled with the students. “It transcends borders, religions, ideology and class. If we can see that we all desire the same thing and ultimately value similar things, perhaps we can find the key to break the growing cycle of disharmony in the world.”

Gilroy – Gavilan College will present “Lend Me a Tenor,” a farce in the style of the 1930s by Ken Ludwig, directed by John Lawton Haehl, at the Gavilan College theater.

The general manager of the opera hopes this performance will put Cleveland on the map. The star ends up arriving late, intoxicated and has no time to rehearse, which causes a series of hilarious mishaps. What will the opera house do?

Evening Performances start at 8pm Friday and Saturday, and May 4, 5, 11 and 12. Matinee performances start at 2pm May 6 and 12 with a special preview at 8pm Thursday.
